WWF Global Conservation Conference Inaugurated in Jaipur
The WWF Global Conservation Conference was inaugurated in Jaipur, Rajasthan, on 21 September 2026 by Union Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Bhupender Yadav. The conference brought together WWF's global network to review progress on biodiversity, habitat protection and climate-linked conservation finance. Hosting it in India highlights the country's record on flagship species recovery — tigers, one-horned rhinos and Asiatic lions — and its obligations under the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, which commits parties to protect 30% of land and sea by 2030. The Jaipur meeting follows other conservation developments this week, including a new checklist recording 3,261 flowering plant species in the Agasthyamalai Biosphere Reserve.
