Premier Energies Commissions India's Largest Solar Cell Manufacturing Facility at Naidupeta
Premier Energies commissioned a 7 GW N-type TOPCon G12R solar cell manufacturing facility at Naidupeta in Andhra Pradesh on 21 September 2026, described as India's largest single solar cell plant. TOPCon (Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact) cells deliver higher conversion efficiency than conventional PERC cells, and domestic cell capacity is the weakest link in India's solar chain, where module capacity has long outpaced cell output. The plant supports the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) regime, which from 2026 extends to solar cells and not just modules, and complements the PLI scheme for High Efficiency Solar PV Modules. It advances India's 500 GW non-fossil capacity target by 2030.
