Punjab Police Constable eligibility combines age limits with a 10+2 qualification and a mandatory Punjabi-at-Matriculation requirement. Age is reckoned as on 1 January 2026, with a 5-year relaxation for SC/BC residents of Punjab and for serving regular government employees (maximum age 33). Ex-Servicemen who are residents of Punjab may deduct their period of service from their actual age, and the resultant age may exceed the upper limit by up to 3 years.

A Domicile Certificate issued by the Punjab Government is required for female candidates applying under the General/Open/UR category.

Physical standards — PMT & PST

Candidates who clear the Stage-I CBT are called for Stage-II — the Physical Measurement Test (PMT) and Physical Screening Test (PST). Both are qualifying in nature: no marks are added to the merit, but failing any single event means immediate elimination.

Key physical-test rules

  • Both the PMT and PST are only qualifying — no marks are added to the merit list, but failing any one event means immediate disqualification.
  • Transgender candidates are assessed at par with female candidates for both the PMT and PST.
  • The recruitment board may carry out random biological (drug) testing for performance-enhancing substances; refusal to give a sample leads to disqualification.
  • Pregnant candidates may submit a medical report before the PST date to postpone the test; if they clear the written merit, the seat is held and the PST is allowed within 6 months of delivery.
