All 4 Soils, Climate & Agriculture questions the Punjab PSC asked between 2016 and 2023, each with a worked answer and the exam it came from. First 10 free to read.
1 of these 4 were set in more than one exam — the Commission reuses this topic, which is the argument for working through it rather than skimming it.
Free to read, with the worked answer and the exam each one came from. The book prints this topic in the order the Commission favours, so these are the ones to know first.
In Punjab the low-lying khadar floodplains along the rivers, renewed by fresh silt each monsoon, are called Bet (bet lands). The older, higher bhangar terraces are the Dhaya, the sandy south-western tract is the Rohi, and Pat is the name of the older-alluvium region near the Rajasthan border.
The Bangar is the higher plain of old alluvium that stays above the reach of floods; the tract so named lies between the Ghaggar and the Yamuna, largely in present-day Haryana. The low strip of new alluvium beside a river is the Khadar or Bet. Punjab's other regional names: Majha (Ravi–Beas), Doaba (Beas–Sutlej), Malwa (south of the Sutlej) and Puadh (Sutlej–Ghaggar).
Punjab has five agro-climatic zones. Two anchors settle the match. The sub-mountain undulating zone is the Shivalik foothill belt of Hoshiarpur, Gurdaspur and Ropar. The central plain zone covers the fertile Jalandhar-Ludhiana-Patiala tract. That gives A-II and B-I. The remaining pair puts Ferozepur in the western plain zone and Moga in the western zone.
The Green Revolution of the mid-1960s made Punjab the 'food basket' or granary of India. It gave high-yielding wheat and rice varieties, assured canal and tube-well irrigation, chemical fertilisers and the minimum support price system. M.S. Swaminathan and Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana played key roles. Pink Revolution refers to meat and prawn production, Red Revolution to meat and tomatoes.
The Commission set 4 Soils, Climate & Agriculture questions across 5 papers between 2016–2023. That is the whole set, not a sample — every one of them is in the book, and the 4 most-asked are on this page free.
Yes. 1 of these 4 were set in more than one exam, which is why they are worth working rather than reading. Each question here carries a badge showing how many sittings asked it.
Here. Every question on this page is a solved MCQ: the four options as printed, the correct answer, and a worked explanation in plain English — not just a letter. The rest of the 4 are in the book, in the same form.
Switch to Attempt mode at the top of the questions. You get one question at a time and it is marked the moment you pick an option, with the reason underneath — the same way the exam feels, on your phone.
The questions are on screen rather than in a downloadable file, so they stay current and correct. The printed book has all 4 of these plus the rest of the Punjab GK section, and every buyer gets the whole thing online as well.
The exams behind these questions, most first. A paper here is a sitting: a question set in two papers of the same sitting counts once.
